Killarney Provincial Park Citizen Science Survey December 2018
Over a dozen participants attended this citizen science training and survey on December 8, 2018, including two people who attended last year's session and several residents of Killarney and the Sudbury area.
Following a presentation about eastern wolves and surveying/collecting instructions, we headed out in three teams to collect samples. Two of our teams successfully found and collected samples. The third team enjoyed finding some recent canid tracks, although found no noninvasive samples to collect.
Throughout the year, we are pleased to announce that a local resident has been collecting other samples. We are grateful to her ongoing support of the research. Thank you Norma!
DNA results from the samples will be shared with those who collected them, and are currently being processed in the lab. We thank all of this year's participants for sharing a beautiful day with us and helping us conduct important research in Killarney Provincial Park. Special thanks also to our hosts, the Friends of Killarney.
